About David Darling

Originally from New Mexico, I have two degrees from the University of Colorado: Business (Finance) and German. Most of my professional career was with the largest Austrian bank - Creditanstalt Bankverein. With assignments in Vienna, New York and San Francisco I focused on import-export financing in Eastern Europe and South America. After surviving a few bank mergers during my 20 years in banking I relocated to San Diego in 2001 to act as an independent contractor for several of my old banking clients and help raise our two toddlers, Emily and Milo. Unfortunately, my customers needed me in Europe quite often and the long distance travel became less and less attractive. In 2005, I walked away from international finance and jumped into the mortgage business, just as the housing market was peaking! I joined LibertyStreet in 2006 and love helping people manage their financial resources.

Our family is active in the community and very engaged with extended family functions. One of my hobbies is genealogy and my wife Judy likes making jewelry. We volunteer at the schools, YMCA and I am a Boy Scout leader. The kids are busy with music, sports, school, camping, and electronic gadgets that befuddle me.
